Fri, 10:00-14:00 hrs
Each JU student holding a disability certificate or an equivalent document is entitled to a bursary for persons with disabilities – additional material assistance aimed to further equal opportunities.
To activate a bursary for persons with disabilities request on your individual account in the USOSweb system, all the applicant needs to do is to send a scan or a copy of a valid disability-degree certificate or an equivalent document to the JU DSS. The original of the said document may also be delivered to the DSS during a consultation session yet that is not obligatory. The day following the entry of the data (code, degree, award date and certificate validity date) into the system, an electronic application will be activated on the student’s individual USOSweb account, which must be completed online.
The attestation must be issued by a POLISH official body!
The bursary for persons with disabilities is granted from the month of the application submission, in the standard scenario for 9 months (from October to June) or until the end of certificate validity.
In the 2021/2022 academic year, the following monthly rates apply:
1) For JU undergraduate students:
PLN 1000 – for holders of certificates confirming their considerable degree of disability or attestation issued by the Social Security Institution (ZUS) confirming their total incapacity to work and live independently;
PLN 725 – for holders of cerrtificates confirming their moderate degree of disability or attestation issued by the Social Security Institution (ZUS) confirming their total incapacity to work;
PLN 350 – for holders of cerrtificates confirming their mild degree of disability or attestation issued by the Social Security Institution (ZUS) confirming their partial incapacity to work.
A bursary for disabled students may be drawn at a single university programme only. Students who having completed one university programme continue pursuing another one are not entitled to draw the special bursary for disabled persons, unless they continue at university having completed first-degree studies in order to obtain a masters title, yet not longer than for a period of three years.
Financial assistance does not apply to persons on student and dean's leaves.
If your disability or disability-degree certificate is no longer valid and disability or its degree has been certified anew as a continuation of the previous official decision on disability, the bursary may be drawn from the first day of the month following the month when the validity of the previous certificate expired, if the student meets the requirements entitling him/her to such a benefit and provided he/she has lodged a request for the special bursary for persons with disabilities within three months following the expired validity of the previous certificate.
Detailed information concerning material assistance at the JU can be found in the regulation.
