WHAT IS THE JU DSS? 

The full name of JU DSS is the Disability Support Service of the Jagiellonian University. The department is a unit of the public university. In this text we use the abbreviation DSS. 

WHERE CAN THE DSS BE FOUND? 

The DSS office is located in Krakow, at 9A Mickiewicza Street, on the 4th floor. 
There are two lifts in the building. 
The secretariat - your first contact place is located in room 410.  
The secretariat can be found in the right corridor of the building. It is the first door on the right side.  

HOW TO GET TO THE DSS? 

You can reach the DSS by public transport.

The nearest bus stop is called AGH/UR. 

A parking space for persons with disabilities (known as the envelope) is available in front of the building (from Krupnicza Street).  

The building is accessible for persons with disabilities. 

WHAT DOES THE DSS DO? 

The DSS advises and supports students with special needs and disabilities. 
The DSS operates under the Rector’s Ordinance no.150 and the Academic Rules.  
Difficulties which you may report to the DSS may arise from: 
  • disability 
  • a long, serious illness 
  • a sudden illness or accident 
  • mental disorders 
  • autism spectrum disorders 
  • reading and writing difficulties. 

THE SUPPORT YOU CAN RECEIVE:

  • a meeting with an educational counsellor 
  • adaptation of exams and classes to the needs of persons with disabilities 
  • adaptation of learning materials 
  • help from specialists in assistive technologies 
  • training in applications and software to help you study 
  • accessible language classes for students with sight/hearing disabilities
  • cooperation with lecturers 
  • allowance for persons with disabilities
  • a teaching assistant. 

HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT? 

  • Call the DSS secretariat on +48 12 663 43 40 and ask about the possibility of a meeting 
    Send an e-mail to: don@uj.edu.pl and ask for a meeting 
  • Use DORADA chat DORADA (DORADA or search for us in the MS Teams application as DORADA) and write a message. 
The DSS Secretariat is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. 
Counsellors are on duty: 
  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 15:00 
  • Friday from 10:00 to 14:00. 
  • Wednesday is an internal working day. 

INTERPRETATION IN POLISH SIGN LANGUAGE 

It is possible to interact with us using Polish sign language (PSL). 

You should report such a need before coming to the DSS office. 
There is also an active service of the Polish Sign Language Interpreter (called Tłumacz Migam) at the Jagiellonian University’s DSS. To connect to the service, click on the sign language icon.
